Location and Surrounding Area
From the creek at Port Navas that gently fills with the flow of the tide, to the wider Helford River just around the corner that opens up spectacularly into Falmouth Bay, this part of Cornwall is a place to come and find your own pace among nature.
With woods carpeted in bluebells in springtime and fallen leaves in shades of ochre and umber in autumn, the ancient woodlands that line the Helford River offer beauty all year round. Miles of footpaths weaving through the landscape make it easy to explore, and arrive eventually at the South West Coast Path, where trees give way to gorse lined paths and sweeping views out to sea.
Change your pace from the calm of Port Navas to the bustling harbourside town of Falmouth, where sailing boats tack across the harbour and ferries criss-cross the waterside, taking visitors across the reaches of the River Fal. In Falmouth, festivities are abundant. This vibrant University town has a thriving arts scene and a rich cultural calendar, with leading events like the International Sea Shanty Festival and the Fal Oyster Festival.

The very thought of what lies ahead is enough to see you spring out of bed and into action, ready to seize the day – and adventure can be found with ease in this part of Cornwall. Thrill-seekers will love WeSUP in Falmouth, where paddleboarding in the bay offers a great way to explore the waters. Hire boats at Helford Passage, or head to the dramatic North Coast for a day of surfing or hiking – or simply to relax on white sandy beaches.
Just up the lane is the village of Constantine, where the largest supplier or spirits in the South West sits unassumingly in the village, ready with the perfect wine for your meal, or a rare whisky for afterwards. All the essentials can be found here too, like local milk and eggs.
Potager is a must-visit. Its organic café serves locally-grown food, and the picture-perfect setting within its wisteria-covered greenhouse is simply magical. Or step over to the other side of Port Navas Creek and visit the yacht club for an unforgettable intimate dinner. You’ll need to book ahead, though, as there is limited seating.

Lovely cottage but could do with more light. If there was obscure glass in the front door and the two side panels it would be a lot lighter as the sun is in that direction in the morning.Thank you for your kind feedback, we are pleased you enjoyed your stay by the river in Port Navas. We agree it is a lovely cottage and a cosy space with the two large living space windows bringing in light and enjoying that stunning view! We appreciate your thoughts on the lighting in the entryway and will feed this back to the owner. We look forward to welcoming you back for more peaceful holidays by the river. Many thanks, Sarah and the team at Cornish Holiday Cottages
