Summary

* New waterside cottage – Morning Star in Restronguet – open for bookings from January 2025 *

Along the coastal footpath of the wooded, idyllic Restronguet Creek you will spy Morning Star, an adorable, waterside hideaway, recently transformed to provide all the home comforts in the most enchanting setting. Here you are able to relax and be at one with nature and the creek in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Perched in an elevated position, Morning Star offers breathtaking views over Restronguet Creek, the sparkling sailing waters of the Carrick Roads, and the picturesque Roseland Peninsula.

The enchanting seaside garden, large deck, kitchen patio and crow’s nest seating area amongst the trees and birds, means you are never short of somewhere peaceful to escape to with your book.

Whilst rest is a must on holiday, time on the water is so easy here, via the private jetty and foreshore (for the sole use of Morning Star and Crock Na Godna the adjacent cottage) – days on the water are yours for the taking.  Set your clock by the tide and swim at high water from the wooden dock, or from the nearby Weir Beach at all stages of the tide. Hire a boat/kayak/paddleboard from Mylor Boat Hire (who will deliver to the cottage), and explore the wooded creeks; picnic and swimmers at the ready.

The entrancing waterside garden and large wooden deck sits just above the access to the jetty and foreshore, so if bobbing about on the water is not your thing, pull up a sun lounger and lay back and soak up the coastal vibes. Slow down, switch off, enjoy the magic of footpath living. Savour the sounds of nature and the absence of road noise.

When the day draws to a close and home comforts call, then this charming, fully refurbished, 18th-century, former oyster fisherman’s cottage awaits to cosset you in its snug atmosphere, with all mod cons –  log burner, oodles of hot water, central heating, full fibre WiFi and comfy beds. Just sit and unwind. Cooking is a dream in the modern, coastal kitchen with all you need to create culinary magic, and incredible water views. Just a short stroll along the footpath is the renowned 13th-century Pandora Inn, with its floating pontoon and great food, so we won’t tell if you don’t cook at all!

For larger gatherings, Crock Na Godna Cottage, under the same ownership, sits adjacent to Morning Star and is bookable through Creekside Cottages, also sleeping 6.

Parking and Access

A huge part of the charm and tranquility of Morning Star is due to its unique location. Cars can be unloaded 50m from the cottage. Guests unload, take their belongings to the cottage, and then take their car back and park on the road above Weir Beach (a 5 minute picturesque walk).

Vehicle access across the beach to the unloading location is tidal. Typically, vehicle access is possible except for 1 hour either side of high water. At neap tides, there is vehicle access at all stages of the tide. At spring tides vehicle access is prevented about 2 hours either side of high water. Please check the tide times here so you can plan your arrival time.

Please note that due to the ‘off the beaten path’ location of the cottage and the many steps around the garden and jetty, we do not deem Morning Star suitable for those with mobility issues or visual impairment.

Young children, 5 years and over, are very welcome, and must be supervised. Access to the jetty is via a padlocked gate, however the cottage is still waterside and with that come some residual risks, as well as some steep areas of garden.

Please note that Crock Na Godna guests (next door to Morning Star and under the same ownership) have shared access to the jetty via the steps and path, down the side of Morning Star’s front garden.

Mooring / boats / kayaks / paddleboards

The cottage has a mooring (may dry out at low tide). Hire a boat/tender/kayak/paddleboard for the duration (or part) of your holiday from Mylor Boat Hire who will deliver to the cottage. No experience is necessary and they will do a full handover with you and provide support during your stay.

Mylor marina and yacht haven is a 10 minute drive and is a major boating centre that is home to hire facilities, watersport training and courses, as well as yoga/well being, a great café and Castaways Restaurant.
