In Falmouth town, when you walk down the main Market Street and pass Baker Tom’s, the warm scent of fresh bread greets you and leads you to the sight of a fully-stocked window, brimming with organic sourdough, rosemary and sea salt focaccia and signature baguettes.
Located in the heart of the Falmouth, on Church Street, you’ll find Baker Tom’s shop window brimming with freshly baked bread, pastries and cakes. Many customers enjoy popping in for a takeaway cuppa and cake whilst shopping in Falmouth.
The first loaves of bread were baked by Tom in his kitchen in the corner of the South West over 10 years ago, and now his products are available wholesale throughout Cornwall, Devon and the southwest, and he has 5 shops, a mobile van and an online shop. As well as their in-house outlets, Baker Tom’s also supplies to dozens of restaurants and cafes across Cornwall.
Tom’s aim has always been to ‘make good, wholesome, interesting bread that tastes great and is food for you, with no added nasties. Loaves that have been simply made, the way they have been for centuries.’… and to ‘keep things simple so that the bread can be the rising star.’
Now entering their 16th year their scones, pastries, cakes, breads and brioche rolls are famous throughout the county, as are their mince pies and hot cross buns.
Tom brought the art of baking back to Cornwall: using century-old methods and just the simplest, natural ingredients to enrich the flavour. Night bakers work hard kneading, shaping and proving the dough ready to be baked in the early hours of the morning, ensuring the bread is the freshest and tastiest it can be for the day. Baker Tom’s delivery vans can be seen in the early hours of the morning dropping off freshly baked loves to the opening cafes and eateries.
True to the day he started, Tom’s ethos remains the same; they bake delicious, wholesome bread, crafted by hand, that his customers can enjoy every day.
