New Yard Restaurant is a converted 17th century stable building which adjoins Flora Cafe, in the former stable yard of Trelowarren Estate. Local produce and garden-grown ingredients guide the seasonal menus and the pantry provides an alternative small plate and takeaway menu from the rustic dine-in restaurant.
New Yard is set at Trelowarren in Cornwall, a private estate that has been owned by the same family for over 600 years. The restaurant and cafe are run by Tim and Louise.
Cafe Flora is open every Thursday – Sunday from 9-3 pm for breakfast, lunch and takeaway or eat in cakes, coffee, breads and pastries, and open on Friday and Saturday evenings 6pm – 10pm. Flora New Yard Restaurant is open for Sunday lunch.
In keeping with its unique location and historic credentials, casual laid-back dining is the name of the game. At Flora they serve delicious, seasonal food grown by themselves or from their network of small growers, farmers, fisherfolk and foragers. They predominantly cook and bake in their stone wood fired oven. Breakfast is freshly baked Danish pastries, rye and sourdough breads, home made granola, fresh fruits and organic coffee. The Lunch menu changes each week and includes garden salads, grilled fish and vegetables from the walled garden. For dinner they offer a relaxed setting for friends and family to enjoy – snacks, pizzas and daily specials with a selection of wines chosen to pair well with their food and locally brewed ciders and beers.
In the shimmery summer months, cocktails can be enjoyed al fresco in the stone courtyard, and when there’s a chill in the air, diners are invited to sit by the roaring fire.
