Some would say it’s an open and closed case, but we’ll let you decide if they’re the best pizza in Cornwall. Buzzing, vibrant and serving only the finest Neapolitan pizza, Pizza Pls in Bohl’s Yard, Penryn, is the place to go for neighbourhood dining and delicious woodfired pizzas for every palette.
Their oh-so -Italian cafe/pizza-style dining is informal and focused around friends sharing fine food and nice drinks. Their outside pergola with corrugated steel roof and outdoor fire allows diners to gather and eat outside in any weather. Inside the space is intimate and simple, beautiful artwork can be seen in the snug from local sign writer, Amy Goodwin, and historic photographs of Cornwall line the walls.
Their dough is slow fermented and made the previous day which helps provide a lighter and more digestible pizza base. They always strive to make their pizzas and toppings from the finest ingredients they can get their hands on, including magnificent mushrooms that they roast in big chunky slices with olive oil and thyme, Wild Garlic Salsa Verde made using local wild garlic, Cornish asparagus tips from Tergassow Manor, and fresh basic from Patrick’s Patch Falmouth. Their flour, imported from Italy uses a mix of the finest Italian and Northern American wheat gluten and milled in Paples the home of the Neopolitan pizza.
Favourite menu items include their Portobello with white base, porcini powder, ricotta truffle cream, wood roasted garlic portobello mushrooms and fior di latte mozzarella, their vegan Beautiful Things with Italian tomato base, wood-roasted seasonal vegetables, herby seeded pesto and pomegranate molasses, and their Anchovy and Chickpea Crostini. Diners can also choose to add extra toppings to any pizza.
