Restaurant Mine is a bijou eatery tucked away just off Falmouth’s Old High Street in The Old Brewery Yard. The Kitchen takes pride in delivering playful takes on classic flavour combinations of British favourites in simple, impactful dishes.
The kitchen is run by Angus Bell whose passion for cooking was ignited at The Star Inn at Harome in York which sparked the idea to one day open his own neighbourhood local. Angus went on to train in London at Le Gavroche under Michel Roux Jr before becoming a founding partner in the casual restaurant group Le Bab.
Moving from London to Cornwall, Angus and his partner Katy’s vision was to create an intimate dining room with a laid back atmosphere that feels like being at a dinner party.
Inside, the intimate dining space is graced with light from the floor-to-ceiling windows and is decorated with a mixture of industrial injection through pendant lighting, and organic influences through wooden tables and earthy ceramics. The open kitchen removes the traditional barriers in a restaurant and the chefs often pass plates of food to diners, encouraging tables to chat.
From the produce in the kitchen to the hand soap in the bathroom, they proudly celebrate local suppliers and partner with other small businesses in the area.
Outside, Mine’s wooden benches and tables, and wrought-iron chairs spill out onto the cobblestoned courtyard, offering guests the opportunity to dine al fresco to the hum of the close-by town and shoppers in the yard.
The small but punchy menu hosts dishes that rotate weekly depending on the season and local produce. They source all of our ingredients locally using only the best Cornish produce and treat them with time and care. It’s a joy to see their passion for preserving the best of each season; using root to stem in pickles, oils and ferments.
The wine list like the menu is short but sweet, curated to complement the food and rotates based on the season.
Dishes that can be enjoyed include octopus & creamed corn, pan-roasted brill fillet and Penryn chocolate tart.
