Established in 2020 by trained SCA barista, chef and food and beverage professional, Sham, Situ offers a fusion of Gujarati, Ugandan and British ingredients and flavours.
Based on Commercial Road in Penryn, Situ also travels to markets, events and takes part in community collaborations. Sham’s small but mighty business has a creative, collaborative and community focus, bringing people together to connect over specialty coffee, traditional drinks and heritage food. He uses local produce, family recipes and traditional techniques to create streetfood-style dishes that follows the migration route of three generations.
With grandparents and ancestry from Gujarat, India; parents born in Uganda in 1960’s, arriving to the UK in 1972, and himself born in their city of settlement – Leicester, in the 1990’s. He now continues learning for his heritage and reflects on previous generations journeys by bringing this to forefront in his food and drink, here in Cornwall.
Those who stumble upon Situ’s food can expect dishes such as masala baked beans, bateta and gobi hash, gulab jamun, keema saag toastie and keri nu ras granola.
