Dining on the water’s edge has never looked so idyllic at The Working Boat in Falmouth. Nestled along The Greenbank Quay and looking across the harbour to Flushing, the pub focuses on good, honest pub grub and local brews.
Established in 1876 and relaunched in 2015, The Working Boat was recently described by The Telegraph as a “Falmouth institution – a lively local, proud of its nautical roots”. Originally used as Greenbank Hotel’s taproom it was frequented by oystermen who were in need of refreshment after a long day out on the boat. This is a tradition that carries on today as it remains a base for the Falmouth Working Boat Association.
There is never a dull day at The Working Boat, as the pub is always buzzing with locals, tourists, live music, local festivals, groups of beach cleaners and pub-quiz goers.
The vibe here is cosy but full of life. The interior is rustically decked out to reflect its maritime heritage and has plenty of board games and nooks making it the perfect spot to hunker down when it’s drizzly outside. If the Cornish weather is good, the exterior decking area with heaters and snug blankets allow visitors to dine outside in the summer and winter months.
With crab buckets and lines available and doggy treats available at the bar, The Working Boat is set up to welcome the whole family.
Menu items at The Working Boat include steak focaccia, chicken and chorizo jambalaya, beer-battered haddock and jalapeno cheesy chips.
