Helford River
This large waterside house undoubtedly occupies one of the finest south-facing sites on the Helford River. Set in a beautifully landscaped, terraced garden of some three acres in total, there are so many pockets for you to enjoy. Breath-taking views, direct beach access and just a short stroll to the Ferry Boat Inn, as self-catering holiday homes go, Ridifarne has to be one of Cornwall’s finest!
A wide terrace and water garden running the whole width of the house forms a sun trap with the most amazing views. Steps from the lower terrace offer direct access to Bar Beach and the river.
Ridifarne has been in the Cornish Holiday Cottages portfolio since 1983. We know from our many, repeat guests that this house presents the most wonderful space for families to come together and to soak up the Helford magic, taking dips in the river, hiring kayaks from Helford Passage and picnicing on Grebe beach.
The Ferryboat Inn is just a 5 minute stroll along Bar Beach and onto the no through lane that leads direct to the charming, waterside pub. Grab a table on the terrace, some tasty, local delights and a sparkling drink and enjoy the sundown, as the kids frolic on the beach.
For day to day provisions Mawnan Smith village is approximately 6 minutes by car and Falmouth town for more extensive shopping, decadent delis, art galleries and quirky boutiques is 6 miles away.

Ridifarne is set on the banks of the calm waters of the Helford River, a favourite of sea meanderers and lovers of tranquility. The Shipwrights Inn, just a short passenger ferry trip across the south bank of the river and a gentle stroll, offers a different perspective on this beautiful area.
From Ridifarne you also have access to some of the most spectacular coastal walks in South Cornwall, as well as Trebah and Glendurgan gardens – both paradise for garden enthusiasts. The Budock Vean Hotel with its golf course, restaurant and spa open to non residents and just five minutes away by car. A passenger ferry operates from Easter until lst October, from the Ferry Boat Inn to Helford village.
Mawnan Smith and Constantine villages are just one mile and three miles away in opposite directions. Both have village shops, a pub and a great place to start some good round walks from. In Mawnan Smith there is Awna cafe, The Red Lion Inn, Spar stores and monthly farmer’s market in the village hall. Constantine has the hidden gem that is Constantine Stores with its incredible collection of wines and spirits.
The harbourside town of Falmouth is twenty minutes away if you take the scenic coastal route via Mawnan Smith village, Maenporth and Swanpool beaches. Falmouth is a vibrant student, artist and boat building town with a brilliant array of independent restaurants, cafes, boutique style shops, plus some high street fare and great galleries from which you may just be tempted to buy a holiday momento.
The rugged Lizard, the UK’s most southerly point, Kynance Cove, Kennack Sands, Coverack and other stunning beaches are around thirty minutes by car and will be sure to get your camera snapping. Bring layers, wetsuits, bathers, each towels and have fun getting wet.
