Summary
Romantic and dreamy, a stay at The Long Barn is just what you need. Think long lie-ins in the sumptuous four poster bed, morning strolls to nearby Swanpool Beach for coffee and cake, a boat trip from Prince of Wales Pier to the Roseland Peninsular and home for a refreshing dip in the sea. Back to your holiday home with a long hot shower, get dressed for supper and a gentle walk down to the waterside, Hooked on the Rocks for some great food. The Long Barn is a well appointed, gorgeous holiday cottage providing quality, comfort and space.
This charming, barn conversion sits next to a farmhouse in a tranquil and idyllic setting. Wake up to birdsong, and relax in the sun-trap garden of an evening, with a G&T in hand, as the birds and the trees provide the harmony. This get back to nature retreat gives you access to the south-west coastal path, in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Think daily sea swimming, paddleboarding from Gylly or Maenporth beaches, and days out on the beautiful Helford River. Time on or around the water is just what your soul is calling for.
Freshly renovated (spring 2024) to offer a high-end kitchen, nifty utility space, and decadent bathroom, The Long Barn, has everything to make for a brilliant base from which to explore the Falmouth and Helford River area.
Park at Maenporth, fuel up in the café and follow the coast path 4 miles to the exotic sub-tropical gardens of Glendurgan and Trebah, or find a spot closer and give your legs a rest.
The Trelowarren Inn in the nearby village of Budock serves great roasts and Cornish ales. The harbourside town of Falmouth offers much to do, with interesting galleries, boutique shops and restaurants, two cinemas and The National Maritime Museum. Falmouth can be reached via car in less than 10 minutes.

Location and Surrounding Area
Falmouth, with its natural harbour (the third deepest in the world), winding streets and beaches, will keep you occupied for hours. Pendennis Castle, built by Henry viii, is Falmouth’s most popular attraction, sited on its own peninsula with superb panoramic sea views. While away the hours in one of Falmouth’s great independent coffee shops, such as Espressini and Solskinn, above The Poly. Hop on a passenger ferry to the beautiful Roseland Peninsular and pretty St Mawes. Treat yourself to lunch at the Tresanton or Idle Rocks. This is your holiday, so make of it what you will, but be sure to treat yourself.
Within walking distance of The Long Barn is the aforementioned Hooked on the Rocks for fresh seafood and the most breath-taking seafront dining experience around. Be sure to book way in advance. Also on Swanpool Beach is a café and its famous clotted cream and chocolate/sweetie clad ice-creams. Or follow the coast path north-east to Gylly and dine at the beachside restaurant, or snack from one of the mobile food vendors such as Tidal Coffee or Dough and Dowr.
