The Star & Garter
A restaurant that makes you feel at home is The Star & Garter, perched on Falmouth High Street, in the town’s artisan quarter. A cosy interior and locally sourced ingredients make it an excellent choice for a Sunday roast dinner in Falmouth. This gastro pub prides itself on using Cornish meats and seasonal produce with a decadent flair. To start choose from crisp crab fritters with a bisque mayo or a roasted squash patty. The star of the show is a Cornish lamb shoulder with crisp Yorkshire puddings. If you fancy something veggie and wholesome there is a sumptuous mushroom wellington on the menu. All are served with roasted carrot, shallot, seasoned savoy cabbage and crispy roast potatoes. If you are feeling extra peckish you can add a Sunday lunch classic of cauliflower cheese to the table. Save a little space for one of their superb (almost light) puddings. Transport yourself to Italy with a Pedro Ximinez affogato, freshly brewed espresso poured into vanilla ice cream and rich sherry. Take a walk on the savoury side with a cheese board for one, creamy Cornish blue with rye crackers and tangy red onion chutney. The friendly folk here welcome walk-ins but on roast day it is encouraged to reserve a table as the tables fill up quickly on Sundays. Explore more here
