Based on The Prince of Wales Pier in Falmouth, which first opened in 1905, The Pier Café is a small building that packs a punch. By day they serve delicious breakfasts, coffee and lunches with a view as well as rich cream teas and locally-made cakes. By evening, the space is transformed into a bar and Cornish tapas eatery, hosting occasional feast nights, live music and events.
The pier is a renowned tourist spot and local’s favourite due to its 360-degree view of the harbour and its ongoing ferry and pleasure boat landing, where visitors can hop on board to venture over to flushing or cruise along the estuary.
The beautiful sundeck looks out onto the harbour and is the perfect place to soak in the sea air and sunshine with a glass or two of wine or a sweet scone with Cornish jam and cream.
The pier focuses heavily on supporting local produce and businesses through sourcing fish directly from local boats and sourcing only the best coffee through neighbouring roasteries.
They pride themselves on being a friendly and approachable ‘bunch of local folk’, there to offer great food in a relaxed atmosphere.
On the menu sit items such as goats cheese and beetroot salad, twice-baked cheddar souffle, and mushroom soup with truffle and parsley oil.
